A Theological Reflection
Genesis 1–3
The Goodness and Grace of God
Before we do anything for God, God has already given.

What does Creation reveal about the Creator?
When we slow down and read Genesis 1 and 2, we can see more than the account of how God created the heavens and the earth.
We can also see something about who God is.
Before humanity appears, God has already prepared a world in which life can flourish. He brings light, establishes the heavens, separates the waters from the dry land, causes vegetation to grow, fills the seas and skies with living creatures, and populates the land.
God prepares. God provides. God blesses. Then God entrusts.
Genesis 1–3 takes us through a simple movement: God gives generously → God establishes a boundary → humanity is invited to trust.

The Grace We See in Creation
Before humanity asks, God provides. Before humanity works, God prepares. Before humanity accomplishes anything, God gives identity, purpose, relationship, provision, and rest.

God's Commands: Guardrails, Not Cages
God's command in Genesis 2 is surrounded by abundance. What changes when we see His boundaries as guardrails placed by a good and loving Creator?

Trusting the Goodness of God
Genesis 3 reveals a deeper problem than simply breaking a rule. The serpent challenged Adam and Eve to doubt the goodness of God.
A Journey From Creation to Trust
From the goodness we see in Creation, to the wise boundaries God gives, to the invitation to trust Him even when it is hard.
